Joe has worked on on trust and matchmaking algorithms at Couchsurfing, on full body UIs at Interval Research, and on various projects at MIT. He used to run a street games festival. These days, he focuses on how media systems, economies, and social structures can work better for people. Major influences are the philosophies of action and of choice, the field of human computer interaction, and real world game design.
